Bryan Murray does the right thing

Today, the Senators sent down young phenom Erik Karlsson to the Binghamton Senators. After days of deliberation, they chose this option. I agree with the choice because he needs to stay in North America for him to develop. There was no point in sending him to Sweden, and even though I thought he should stay, going to Bingo is the 2nd best option. Entering this season, there were 4 rookie defenseman to watch for. Karlsson, Victor Hedman, Tyler Myers, and Michael Del Zotto. 3 are staying, while Karlsson is leaving. For the sake of the team, I hope Karlsson will improvein time for next year where he and Jared Cowen will take over.

If you look at the defensive structure for next year, Bryan Murray will have to mkae some big decisions. If Volchenkov is re-signed (which should happen) and Karlsson and Cowen come in, then that means the other two RFA’s, Campoli and Picard will likely have to walk. Her’es how the lineup would look than…

Phillips – Volchenkov
Kuba – Karlsson
Cowen – Carkner

Seriously though, that looks like a cup-worthy defense in Karlesson is ready then and Cowen meet expectations. This year, make the playoffs, next year the cup! Brian will look like a genius for this re-build!
